He urged organizations to extract more value from current hardware while strengthening resilience through private cloud architectures. Increased application density, improved storage efficiency and automated recovery reduce costs and risk. He emphasized frequent testing and elastic recovery environments that match public cloud flexibility while limiting human error. Lembo also stressed the need to simplify security and operations. Teams should focus on protecting core entry points, then expand into advanced protections using integrated platforms that reduce tool sprawl and support compliance across environments.
"You need automation to protect yourself from automation. It's true, but the theme this year is obviously, do more with less. Hardware is expensive, and what I love about our solution is you don't have to buy appliances, because, let's be honest, appliances are just servers with a different logo on them."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Lembo also discussed:
How private cloud improves ransomware resilience and disaster recovery;
Why security basics still stop many high-profile cyberattacks;
How unified platforms reduce complexity across hybrid workloads.
Lembo is currently a field CTO at VMware by Broadcom, using his experience to drive change and technology adoption to improve the lives of customers and make companies more successful. He attributes his career success and foundational education to ability to distill technologies, translate goals across silos and motivate teams to execute.
