Cyber defenders can't outpace artificial intelligence-powered attackers using human effort alone. Deploying AI at machine speed - while keeping humans in the loop for high-stakes decisions - is how organizations stay ahead, said Devon Bryan, global chief security officer at online travel firm Booking Holdings.

Bryan sees the security operations center as the clearest near-term beneficiary of AI integration. Ingesting telemetry at scale, reducing mean time to detect and continuously instrumenting the external attack surface are all areas in which AI can drive measurable efficiency. But automation alone isn't enough.
"If you can't see it, if you don't know what goes into that model, how can you trust it?" he said.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSAC Conference 2026, Bryan also discussed:
How immutable, write-once backups and hermetically sealed recovery environments enable organizations to survive ransomware attacks and recover quickly;
Why resilience means operating through a disaster, and how Booking Holdings extends those standards across its global partner ecosystem;
How cybersecurity culture takes root when business leaders and employees become champions of the program.
Bryan is responsible for leading Booking Holdings' comprehensive security strategy, encompassing cybersecurity, physical security and fraud prevention across global portfolio of brands, including Booking.com, Priceline, Agoda, Kayak and OpenTable. He previously held CISO roles at Carnival Corporation, MUFG Union Bank - Americas, KPMG - Americas, U.S. Federal Reserve System and ADP LLC.
