Detailsinfo
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in VMware Spring AI up to 1.0.4/1.1.3. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component Multimodal Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Spring AI's spring-ai-bedrock-converse contains a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in BedrockProxyChatModel when processing multimodal messages that include user-supplied media URLs. Insufficient validation of those URLs allows an attacker to induce the server to issue HTTP requests to unintended internal or external destinations. This issue affects Spring AI: from 1.0.0 before 1.0.5, from 1.1.0 before 1.1.4.
The advisory is available at spring.io. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-22742 since 01/09/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/27/2026).
