Detailsinfo A vulnerability has been found in withastro astro up to 5.18.0 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Image Optimization Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes: Astro is a web framework. From version 2.10.10 to before version 5.18.1, this issue concerns Astro's remotePatterns path enforcement for remote URLs used by server-side fetchers such as the image optimization endpoint. The path matching logic for /* wildcards is unanchored, so a pathname that contains the allowed prefix later in the path can still match. As a result, an attacker can fetch paths outside the intended allowlisted prefix on an otherwise allowed host. This issue has been patched in version 5.18.1. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-33769 since 03/23/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592. Upgrading to version 5.18.1 eliminates this vulnerability. The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-14984).
