Detailsinfo
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in allure-framework allure2 up to 2.37.x. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Allure 2 is the version 2.x branch of Allure Report, a multi-language test reporting tool. The Allure report generator prior to version 2.38.0 is vulnerable to an arbitrary file read via path traversal when processing test results. An attacker can craft a malicious result file (-result.json, -container.json, or .plist) that points an attachment source to a sensitive file on the host system. During report generation, Allure will resolve these paths and include the sensitive files in the final report. Version 2.38.0 fixes the issue.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-33166 since 03/17/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 2.38.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
