Detailsinfo A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in firetree RockPress Plugin up to 1.0.17 on WordPress. This issue affects the function current_user_can of the file profile.php of the component AJAX Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-862. The product does not perform an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is: The RockPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Missing Authorization in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.17. This is due to missing capability checks on multiple AJAX actions (rockpress_import, rockpress_import_status, rockpress_last_import, rockpress_reset_import, and rockpress_check_services) combined with the plugin's nonce being exposed to all authenticated users via an unconditionally enqueued admin script. The plugin enqueues the 'rockpress-admin' script on all admin pages (including profile.php) without any page or capability restrictions, and the nonce for the 'rockpress-nonce' action is passed to this script via wp_localize_script. Since the AJAX handlers only verify this nonce and do not check current_user_can(), any authenticated user, including Subscribers, can extract the nonce from any admin page's HTML source and use it to trigger imports, reset import data (deleting options), check service connectivity, and read import status information. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to trigger resource-intensive import operations, reset import tracking data, and perform system connection checks that should be restricted to administrators. The weakness was disclosed by Phong Nguyen. The advisory is shared at wordfence.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-3550 since 03/04/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/20/2026). By approaching the search of inurl:profile.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product. The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-13655).
