Organizations already struggle to understand where their infrastructure, endpoints and networks reside, and rapid artificial intelligence adoption is making that challenge even greater, said Axonius CEO Joe Diamond.

AI makes unauthorized technology use easier because employees can access AI services quickly and potentially submit corporate data to external models, Diamond said. Discovering AI agents is only part of the challenge, Diamond said, since security teams also need to understand which cloud applications and endpoints those agents interact with, what permissions they have and what actions they can perform (see: New CEO Joe Diamond Pushes Axonius Beyond Asset Management).
"You need to know not just, 'Where are the AI agents?' but, 'What can they interface with?,' 'Which cloud applications are they touching?,' 'How are they interfacing with your endpoints?,' 'What do they have permission to do?,'" Diamond said. "So, we needed to make available new capabilities to help organizations really address these massive challenges that they're facing."
In this video interview with ISMG, Diamond also discussed:
How model context protocol makes asset intelligence available to AI;
How natural language can simplify complex security queries;
Why AI's pervasiveness is more important than the technology's novelty.
Diamond brings more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and enterprise technology. Prior to Axonius, he served as vice president of global demand marketing at Okta, where he led the company's global demand organization including field, regional, partner, solutions and campaign marketing teams. He played a pivotal role in launching Okta's Workforce and Customer Identity platforms.
