A key meeting point for the European quantum ecosystem In June, we took part in Qubits Europe 2026, an event organised by D-Wave in London and attended by companies, research centres and international experts to analyse the current impact of quantum computing on industry and science. The event featured presentations by D-Wave managers, customers and partners, who showcased real-world applications and the latest advances in the company’s quantum computing technologies, including quantum annealing and the gate model. Real-world applications in industrial settings During the event, TECNALIA presented findings on the business impact of quantum computing. In a session entitled Applied Quantum Computing: 3D Bin Packing for Würth, Eneko Osaba presented a practical case study on optimisation applied to a logistics challenge. This work demonstrates how quantum computing provides solutions to complex industrial problems and generates tangible benefits such as: Greater efficiency in logistics processes Optimisation of the use of resources Reduction of operating costs Investment and development of the quantum ecosystem in Europe Irene López de Vallejo took part in a round table entitled Quantum Investment in Europe. The discussion focused on investment trends in quantum technologies and the main challenges facing the sector. The most significant conclusions included the importance of the following: Fostering collaboration between industry, the research sector and investors. Speeding up technology transfer. Promoting the adoption of quantum solutions in the industrial sector. Technology with a growing impact Our involvement in this event sent a clear message: quantum computing is already delivering value in real-world use cases. Europe is consolidating its position as a strategic player in this field, thanks to an increasingly robust ecosystem that is driving technological innovation. We would like to thank D-Wave for inviting us and for the excellent organisation of an event that will contribute to the development and industrial application of this technology.
