You can judge a good MAFS couple by the chaos they bring to the table, and Bec Zacharia, 35, and Danny Hewit, 34 were winning the race for much of the 2026 season. Of course, this only continued during the final vows on April 7, which may go down in MAFS history as one of the more brutal moments aired. How did the trouble in paradise start with this MAFS couple? And are Bec and Danny still together? We’re unpacking it. Things were off to a great start for the couple after having one of the funniest weddings. From the altar, Bec ID’d one of the guests as a Channing Tatum lookalike — male stripper Will Parfitt. Danny burst into giggles, confirming Parfitt was a friend of his. It turned out Will had got well acquainted with one of Bec’s friends. Bec and Danny’s wedding was rich in banter, but trouble was foreshadowed when Danny said he was looking for a Bonnie and Clyde kind of love and that Bec would need to be the one breaking him out of jail when he ends up there. Bec didn’t take the throwaway joke too kindly, snapping that she wasn’t interested in a guy who goes to jail. Which, we suppose, is fair enough. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Danny said his “bail me out of jail” comments were a joke and shouldn’t have been taken seriously. He felt it was “weird” that Bec took it so seriously, but added: “She looked beautiful in her dress. I was just trying to take it all in. I knew it was going to be a moment I would hopefully only do once in my life.” Whatever happens, he’ll probably only do it once on TV. Bec, of course, has been previously engaged but called off the wedding months beforehand, saying it was her proudest moment walking away from something that wasn’t right. Image: Nine Bec And Danny’s MAFS Dinner Controversy The couple were spotted on their honeymoon looking discontent but things really went south at the MAFS dinner party, where Danny confessed he was struggling in their relationship, rating the chemistry a “3/10”. Bec didn’t take the rating lying down. On 2Day Breakfast With Nath & Emma, Bec slammed his Monday night dinner party revelation, calling him “shocking in bed.” “Honestly, how dare he? I’m great in bed!” she told the hosts Nathan Roye and Emma Chow, rating herself a “solid 8.7”. When she was asked to rate her husband, she seemed to hint things may have improved. “Look, at the beginning, I would give him a solid 3 as well, but you’ll just have to wait and see.” While she wouldn’t confirm if they’re still together, she said: “He’s an amazing human being.” “Shocking in bed, but a great dude,” she added, laughing. Buckle up, everyone, because Bec has described the final vows as “one of the hardest moments of [her] life” and she even told nine.com.au that she “didn’t get out of bed for five days” afterwards. Going into the final vows, Bec was optimistic, telling producers, “I think Danny loves me… but I need to hear it from him and I think Final Vows is the place I need to hear it”. Unfortunately, Danny didn’t come to the Final Vows with the same conviction, saying one of his big doubts was that “when there’s a problem, which isn’t even a big problem, it can escalate into a big problem”, adding that he often feels that he’s met with “aggression” and that “she can get her back up pretty easily”. Bec starts with her vows first, recapping their time together through the ups and the downs, expressing that they had come out the other side. “In Intimacy Week, the Fantasy Night changed everything. For the first time, I felt like we truly connected emotionally, physically and spiritually,” she said. “It was the moment I realised this wasn’t just an experiment anymore, it was something real and something worth fighting for.” She gave Danny a list of compliments, ending her vows with a declaration of love. “So today, standing here, I’m choosing you. And I promise to choose you every day from here on out. Because, simply put, I love you,” she said. He speaks fondly of their time together in the experiment, through the good and bad. “It brought out an emotional side of me that I didn’t even know was there, and attraction grew,” Danny said. “I was so glad I stuck around, and I thank you for that.” He said, it felt they were “building something really special” but then things take a turn when he mentions the third Dinner Party. “I saw a different side of you. You were on the attack, you were vulgar. It seemed like you were seeking out drama. I will admit, I was embarrassed and uncomfortable,” Danny explains, saying he questioned everything but still stuck by her side. Then comes the really bad. The moments where he felt they couldn’t make it work. “Stepping away from the experiment in the last week, I really thought about how I felt having the space on my own again,” he said. “And as much as it breaks my heart to say this, I felt a weight come off my shoulders, particularly at a time where I know I should have been missing you. “Bec, I believe you’re my soulmate as a friend, but I’ve come to realise there’s doubt in my mind that you are my soulmate as a lover,” Danny said. “Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry to do this to you, but I can’t be your husband anymore.” He apologised, and she left, keeping it together until she’d walked away.
