Affected by this issue is the function fetch of the file /api/download/attatchment of the component Attachment Download Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes: Kan is an open-source project management tool. In versions 0.5.4 and below, the /api/download/attatchment endpoint has no authentication and no URL validation. The Attachment Download endpoint accepts a user-supplied URL query parameter and passes it directly to fetch() server-side, and returns the full response body. An unauthenticated attacker can use this to make HTTP requests from the server to internal services, cloud metadata endpoints, or private network resources. This issue has been fixed in version 0.5.5. To workaround this issue, block or restrict access to /api/download/attatchment at the reverse proxy level (nginx, Cloudflare, etc.). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-32255 since 03/11/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. Upgrading to version 0.5.5 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at github.com. Applying the patch 53397d8e81dc1494d94132848c1f0416f1152bd7 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-12997).
