1-bit teleportation vs knill teleportation to perform T gate

I often see the papers saying that a T gate can be implemented by preparing a magic state and using gate teleportation (1-bit teleportation) as shown in the first figure below. On the other hand, I also know that there is another teleportation-based gate implementation scheme, which uses knill teleportation gadget with two ancilla blocks (shown in the second figure below). As noted in this paper , if we prepare the ancilla state to a specific state, we can also implement T gate using this knill

As noted in this paper, if we prepare the ancilla state to a specific state, we can also implement T gate using this knill teleportation gadget.
In my impression, 1-bit teleportation is more often used in papers, but what is the reason? What are pros and cons, and is there a situation where we can use only one of them?

There doesn't seem to be a significant difference between the circuit operations besides the explicit Bell state preparation in the Knill scheme. Whether you prefer one or the other depends on your hardware, algorithm, logical gateset, etc.. The 1 bit teleportation scheme requires less qubits; the paper you linked states that the Knill scheme requires large ancilla blocks. It may be difficult for architectures with limited connectivity to perform the Bell pair measurement. The Knill teleportation scheme could be better suited to distributed quantum computing, where computational resources are prepared beforehand and teleported to computations via entangled Bell pair connections. Depending on your algorithm, there are probably smarter states to precompute and teleport than T states.
