The impacted element is the function mas_store_gfp of the component regmap. Such manipulation leads to allocation of resources. This vulnerability is listed as CVE-2026-23260. There is no available exploit. The affected component should be upgraded. Detailsinfo A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.123/6.12.69/6.18.9. Affected by this issue is the function mas_store_gfp of the component regmap. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes: In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: regmap: maple: free entry on mas_store_gfp() failure regcache_maple_write() allocates a new block ('entry') to merge adjacent ranges and then stores it with mas_store_gfp(). When mas_store_gfp() fails, the new 'entry' remains allocated and is never freed, leaking memory. Free 'entry' on the failure path; on success continue freeing the replaced neighbor blocks ('lower', 'upper'). The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-23260 since 01/13/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. Upgrading to version 6.6.124, 6.12.70 or 6.18.10 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch d61171cf097156030142643942c217759a9cc806/811b45e2d795d955bb7fd9c816b40036f4fde350/f08f2d2907675926ac5657b25f86d921f269602a/f3f380ce6b3d5c9805c7e0b3d5bc28d9ec41e2e8 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
