The formation of the alliance, spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Security’s Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-Tech Crimes, was announced at a conference of the National Cybersecurity Association on Saturday last week. It includes two specialized cybersecurity units -- the Ministry of National Defense’s Command 86 and the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authority of Information Security. Nine companies specializing in cybersecurity have also joined the alliance. Aside from emergency response, the alliance is responsible for collecting digital evidence in compliance with criminal procedure laws to handle cybercrimes effectively. Lieutenant General Nguyen Minh Chinh, head of the Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-Tech Crimes and vice-president of the National Cybersecurity Association, emphasized the alliance's role in ensuring a secure and trustworthy cyberspace.  He said that the alliance is expected to bolster Vietnam’s transition to a digital economy and support sustainable development. The alliance plans to expand by welcoming more organizations, businesses, and individuals to strengthen its capabilities further. Last year, the cybersecurity department managed 27 major cybersecurity incidents targeting critical organizations and businesses. The department deployed experts to affected sites, neutralized cyberattacks and espionage, and implemented preventive measures to fortify digital infrastructure.
