Prof Prasad says cybersecurity can no longer be treated as an afterthought - Fijivillage

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad Cybersecurity can no longer be treated as an afterthought — it must be a core enabler of digitalisation. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad highlighted this at the CyberCX Excellence Awards, stressing that without trust, resilience, and security, no digital transformation can truly succeed in Fiji. Professor Prasad joined executives, nominees, and winners at the event, congratulating CyberCX on hosting the awards in Fiji for the first time — a reflection of the company’s long-standing commitment to the region. The Acting Prime Minister highlighted Fiji’s recent milestones in strengthening its digital resilience, including the launch of the National Digital Strategy, the establishment of Fiji CERT, and the development of the National Cybersecurity and Resilience Strategy as well as the National Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy. He also commended CyberCX for its regional partnerships, citing initiatives such as the Cyber RAPID program and its role in shaping Fiji’s Cloud Policy Discussion Paper. Professor Prasad further says that the presence of CyberCX in Fiji and its commitment to the region demonstrate the power of partnership.
