CHSAA Warns of Social Media Phishing Scams - Colorado High School Activities Association

AURORA — As the fall postseason gets underway, the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) is warning the public and its member schools about a growing trend in internet scams. Scammers are promoting fake live stream events on platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube. These posts are designed to look like legitimate live streams affiliated with CHSAA or member schools but are actually phishing attempts aimed at stealing personal information. Typically, these scam posts include a link or QR code, inviting users to watch a live stream. Once clicked or scanned, users are prompted to enter personal information to gain access to the video. These are fraudulent. Do not click the links or provide any personal information. Additionally, if you manage a school-affiliated social media account and receive an invitation to collaborate on a post, be cautious. Always verify the identity of the requesting account. If you're unsure, do not accept the request. Instead, direct message the account for verification and/or contact a school administrator or the CHSAA office for assistance. The posts may look like these images:          As always, before clicking on any links, make sure the account is reputable by checking the account activity and number of followers, for example. If you come across an account that looks to be fake, report the account as fake and block it.    The NFHS Network (nfhsnetwork.com) is the official video streaming platform of CHSAA. Many of CHSAA's member schools utilize this platform for broadcasting needs. However, during the regular season, many schools have decided to use other entities to stream live.
