What's the goal of the exercises in Quantum Flytrap?

I'm at the first puzzle of Quantum Flytrap , I've tried to block the photons and to let them pass, but I'm never told that I've succeeded (or failed). What's the goal of the game? I'm feeling a bit stupid.
