NewsBusinessTech LGMS recognised as a leading international cybersecurity provider by research firm Gartner By Business Today Editorial August 15, 2025 Share Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Linkedin LGMS Berhad, one of Malaysia’s leading cybersecurity groups, was recently recognised as a leading international cybersecurity provider in Gartner’s latest Market Guide for Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) Retainer Services, a report that identifies and profiles the world’s most capable providers of cyber breach investigation and response services. The recognition marks a major milestone for both LGMS and Malaysia, signalling that a homegrown cybersecurity company now stands among the top-tier incident response providers trusted by global insurers, regulators and Fortune 500 firms. “This recognition by Gartner is a proud moment for LGMS and Malaysia,” said LGMS Berhad Executive Chairman Fong Choong Fook. “It shows that a homegrown company can meet the highest international standards and be trusted by global clients to respond during their most critical moments.” Gartner’s inclusion criteria are rigorous, requiring companies to demonstrate technical maturity, global certifications, and the ability to deliver both proactive and reactive services at scale. LGMS is the first and only Malaysian company to be listed in the guide, and among the very few in Southeast Asia to receive such recognition. The Gartner report is widely used by global insurers, regulators and Fortune 500 companies when selecting trusted partners for incident response and digital forensic capabilities. LGMS is also the first public listed cybersecurity company in this region to be listed. “This recognition affirms our maturity in managing cyber incidents and meeting global standards,” shared Fong the during the LGMS Investor Day held virtually yesterday for investors, analysts and fund managers. “We are humbled to be listed alongside the world’s top providers, with clients now spanning the US, Europe, Singapore and the wider region.” The Gartner guide features companies with a strong track record in both proactive and reactive incident response, supported by international certifications and consistent delivery. “This recognition also strengthens LGMS’ position to engage and upsell to premium clients that value advanced cybersecurity expertise and are willing to invest in long-term protection,” added Fong. Founded in Malaysia, LGMS has long positioned itself as a ‘pure-play’ cybersecurity services company. Unlike many providers, it does not resell third-party products. This neutrality allows it to deliver objective, independent advice to clients. LGMS’ core services fall into three areas: Security assessment, cybersecurity consulting and incident response. In recent months, LGMS has refined its strategy to focus on what it calls ‘premium clients’ or organisations with the maturity and willingness to engage in deeper, long-term cybersecurity partnerships. “These are companies that view cybersecurity not as a compliance box to tick, but as a vital part of their operational resilience,” said Fong, adding that focusing on such clients enables LGMS to deploy its certified consultants more effectively, ensuring higher value engagements. At the same time, LGMS continues to serve Malaysia’s broader market, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which often lack the resources to manage cybersecurity on their own. To bridge this gap, LGMS had introduced StarSentry, a proprietary plug-and-play solution launched by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo in mid-2024. “Designed for businesses with limited technical capacity, StarSentry provides monthly automated vulnerability scans, deception-based threat detection, real-time alerts and compliance reporting,” said Fong. “Now offered as a fully managed service, clients subscribe to the solution while LGMS handles everything from setup to monitoring and monthly briefings — eliminating the need for hardware investment or specialised personnel.” Among its many use cases, LGMS recently deployed StarSentry for a public-listed manufacturing group. During the initial rollout, high-risk vulnerabilities were reduced by 60 percent. “Another client, a global energy company, replaced its manual vulnerability scans with StarSentry’s automated reports, significantly easing compliance processes and improving visibility across multiple branches,” shared Fong. To further expand StarSentry’s reach, LGMS has partnered with BDO Malaysia and CelcomDigi. BDO now integrates the solution into its managed vulnerability services for corporate clients while  CelcomDigi, Malaysia’s largest telecommunications operator, offers StarSentry to its enterprise subscribers as part of its cybersecurity bundle. Meanwhile, LGMS’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Applied Security Intelligence (ASI), has become the first managed security services provider in Malaysia to receive a General Insurance Agent licence under PIAM. This allows the company to bundle cyber risk insurance with its technical services. Clients that purchase cyber insurance through ASI also receive access to vulnerability scanning, security health checks and expert advisory — all under one offering. Fong also shared that LGMS has also been appointed to the insurance response chain as a digital forensics and incident response provider. It works alongside both international and domestic law firms, and is activated by insurers when their clients experience a breach.
