(WKBT) — Winona County officials announced Wednesday that cybercriminals have released information stolen during the April 7 ransomware attack. The county learned earlier Wednesday that criminals had released data acquired from county networks. Officials said they will conduct a comprehensive review with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to determine what personal information was compromised. "We take this very seriously and will be doing a comprehensive review of this information with the assistance of law enforcement and our third-party cyber security partners," Winona County's official release states. Once the review is complete, the county will notify affected individuals and provide resources to protect their personal information. This marks the second ransomware attack on Winona County in less than three months. A previous attack occurred in January 2026.
