Moldova: EU supports Cybersecurity Forum 2026 and Women in Cyber National Forum
The security of electronic communications networks and the protection of critical infrastructure were the main themes of the ‘Moldova Cybersecurity Forum 2026’, held in Chișinău on 12 and 13 May with the support of the EU Partnership Mission (EUPM) to Moldova.
Participants discussed countering hybrid threats, the security of democratic processes and the importance of regional cooperation for strengthening digital resilience. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the new Cyber Security Law and the strengthening of the capacity of the National Cyber Security Agency in line with the European NIS2 standards.
A key milestone in the integration process was the activation of the EU Cyber Reserve mechanism, with the Republic of Moldova becoming the first beneficiary country of this European assistance tool.
Another event dedicated to cybersecurity — the Women in Cyber National Forum — took place last weekend. The central topic was the promotion of inclusivity and women’s participation in this field.
According to a Facebook post by the EU Delegation to Moldova, more than 150 women have already received training and are involved in the development of the national expert community, contributing to the creation of a safer and more sustainable digital ecosystem, thanks to the EU-supported mentoring programmes.
