GlobalNews Proofpoint: 87% Of Singapore Firms Deploy AI, But Security Readiness Lags By Business Today Editorial April 29, 2026 Share Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Linkedin Artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in Singapore is accelerating faster than organisations can secure it, with 87% of firms moving AI assistants beyond pilot stage and 70% rolling out autonomous agents, according to Proofpoint’s 2026 AI and Human Risk Landscape report. The study, based on responses from over 1,400 security professionals across 12 countries, found that while businesses are embedding AI into customer support, messaging, email workflows and third-party collaboration, security frameworks are struggling to keep pace. In Singapore, 58% of organisations said their AI security measures remain reactive or inconsistent, while 38% reported a suspicious or confirmed AI-related incident. Despite growing investment in safeguards, confidence remains shaky. More than half of Singapore firms with AI security coverage said they were not fully confident their controls could detect compromised AI systems, while half of those with protections in place had still experienced an incident. Collaboration channels have emerged as a major vulnerability, with threats extending beyond email into SaaS platforms, collaboration tools, file-sharing systems and AI agents themselves. Proofpoint said fragmented security stacks are compounding the problem, with 98% of Singapore organisations reporting challenges in managing multiple tools. As AI scales, businesses are shifting strategy. More than half are pursuing vendor consolidation, while nearly two-thirds plan to expand AI protections and move toward unified security platforms over the next year, signalling that governance and visibility are becoming as critical as innovation itself.
