When Married At First Sight Australia returned to our TV screens we honestly thought the majority of them would be able to make it work - at least until the end of the experiment, but boy were we wrong.
We're just halfway through the experiment and some of the cast members have abruptly quit before they even made their decision about whether they wanted to stay or leave their relationship.
So we thought now would be a good time to look at which MAFS series 13 couples manage to make it work after the experiment and which ones don't.
Spoilers. Scandals. Showbiz chaos. Click here to add heat to your Google preferences and stay ahead of the drama.
Rebecca Zukowski and Steve Powell
STEVE REBECCA ©CHANNEL 4
We had such high hopes for Rebecca Zukowski and Steve Powell because they hit it off on their wedding day and even during the first commitment ceremony but the cracks began to show during the Green Flags, Red Flags challenge. Not only did Steve fail to say ANY green flags, he went on to complain about Rebecca's 'sexual innuendos' and her personality but the oddest thing was the fact that he didn't tell Rebecca or the MAFS experts his honest opinions. Later, Steve had an argument with MAFS expert Alessandra Rampolla before admitting Rebecca was 'too much' for him. They both quit during the second commitment ceremony - to no one's surprise.
Brook Crompton and Chris Nield
BROOK AND CHRIS WERE ONE OF THE FIRST COUPLES TO GET MARRIED ©NINE/SEVEN.ONE STUDIOS/CHANNEL 4
Brook Crompton and Chris Nield were arguably the most controversial couple on series 13 and that's mainly due to his turn offs - 'fake tan, needy and fat people' - and Brook's behaviour towards Stella and Alissa. Not only did they both receive backlash for their individual actions but their relationship wasn't great either. Chris complained on their wedding day when Brook kissed him on the cheek, they hit a rough patch when she watched his audition video and she eventually admitted she 'couldn't move past' the tape. When the experts grilled Brook about her behaviour at the second dinner party, she told everyone she was going to the toilet but never returned. Chris walked off the set shortly after and that's the last we saw of them.
FYI, Brook is now back with her ex-boyfriend and not only are they having a baby together but they're engaged too.
Mel Akbay and Luke Fourniotis
MEL AND LUKE ©NINE/SEVEN.ONE STUDIOS/CHANNEL 4
It was pretty obvious from their wedding day that Mel Akbay and Luke Fourniotis were not going to last after he arrived late because he forgot their wedding rings. The fact that he was chewing gum during their vows was the icing on the cake for Mel and she never really got over it. Things were super awkward between them during their first week but after Mel received a grilling from the experts, she had a change of heart and things seemed to be on the up - until they weren't. During the third commitment ceremony they both voted leave and that was that.
FYI, Luke has since sparked recoupling rumours with MAFS 2025 bride Jamie Marinos.
Julia Vogl and Grayson McIvor
JULIA AND GRAYSON CALLED IT QUITS DURING THE THIRD COMMITMENT CEREMONY ©E4
Another couple who seemed to have hit it off from the beginning was Julia Vogl and Grayson McIvor and despite getting on, it was the experts who pointed out that Julia 'sets the pace' and Grayson followed. They managed to stay in the experiment for a few weeks but bizarrely Julia out of the blue wrote Grayson a letter explaining, 'I don't want to force anything'. Despite breaking up, they still attended the next dinner party but both voted 'leave' the following day at the third commitment ceremony.
Stephanie Marshall and Tyson Gordon
STEPHANIE AND TYSON ©E4
We say Brook and Chris were arguably the most controversial couple this year but Stephanie Marshall and Tyson Gordon are also up there. We knew they'd cause a stir when they both made it clear they were 'anti-woke' but we thought the drama would be them vs the other couples but nope, it was the issues between Steph and Tyson that ended their relationship. From Tyson's desire to marry a 'submissive' wife to his views on same sex relationships, it quickly became clear they were not on the same page and Tyson quit during the fourth commitment ceremony.
Juliette Chae and Joel Moses
JULIETTE AND JOEL CLASHED ON THEIR WEDDING DAY ©E4
From the moment Joel Moses said his vows, we knew his marriage to Juliette Chae would be interesting. They clashed over Joel's vows, his mum's speech, a video of Joel playing the drums with dildos and AGAIN all throughout Intimacy week. You'd think the final straw would have been Juliette calling him 'fake', 'a liar' and 'a loser' but nope, she wrote 'stay' during the fourth commitment ceremony which meant they had to stay in the experiment. They had a U-turn during the couple's retreat but Juliette's rant at Bec caused more drama for the group and after a grilling from the MAFS experts she quit the show.
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED
ALESSANDRA, MEL, JOHN ©CHANNEL 4
Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton
CHRIS AND SAM HIT IT OFF AT FIRST ©E4
Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton seemed to be the strongest of the intruder couples, so we truly had high hopes. Obvs Chris keeping the fact that he had two babies on the way a secret did make us have doubts, but he eventually came clean during the audition tape challenge and Sam was 'really happy' for him. Unfortunately cracks began to show and during the sixth commitment ceremony Chris votes 'leave' but Sam votes 'stay' which means they stay in the experiment but by week seven they both vote 'leave'. After the show ended Sam admitted he's 'f--king hurt' after an unaired scene showed Chris making comments about Sam's finances and living arrangement.
Gia Fleur and Scott McCristal
GIA AND SCOTT LEAVE BEFORE THEIR FINAL VOWS ©E4
Another couple that had a baby secret at the beginning of their marriage was Gia Fleur and Scott McCristal. Gia decided she wanted to tell Scott about her daughter when she was ready but her uncle accidentally dropped the news to Scott's family. Luckily after Gia revealed she was a mum, Scott was totally fine and they seemed to be the dream pair. They hit a rough patch when Gia watched Scott's audition tape and heard that he'd prefer to marry someone without kids, Gia also left the experiment temporarily following an off screen row with Scott about photos of his ex-girlfriend... Despite that drama and their feuds with Bec and Danny they appeared to be one of the strongest couples until they abruptly leave the show before their final vows. According to the Daily Mail, Gia asked Scott to go to Melbourne with her so they could reunite with her family but Scott decides to stay in the experiment. They have a blazing row and 'split' but Scott still does the Grass is Greener challenge where the cast members get to watch their other half hang out with their alternative match. It's very much the end for them as Scott accuses Gia of 'flirting' with her alternative match which means they don't make it to their final vows.
Alissa Fay and David Momoh
ALISSA AND DAVID GOT MARRIED ON THE FIRST EPISODE ©E4
Alissa Fay and David Momoh got off to an odd start after she told him she wouldn't marry him until he got down on one knee and proposed. Luckily, he did and it went uphill from there. They appeared to be one of the strongest couples and the only drama they really had was when Brook and Gia had a blazing row with Alissa at the second dinner party. However during the Grass is Greener challenge David is floored when Alissa says 'I don't care if my husband comes for me, but he ain't coming for me' and then again he's shocked when his wife admits she followed her alternative match on Instagram. At their final vows David calls it quits on their relationship, walks off and that's the end of it.
Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt
BEC AND DANNY ©NINE/E4
Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt were involved in a lot of drama during their time in the experiment from clashing with Alissa to those allegations Gia made about Danny, they had a turbulent time on the show. Despite insisting they had a 'ride or die' relationship, during their final vows while Bec wanted to stay together and 'build a life' with her hubby, Danny ended their relationship and said, 'I believe you're my soulmate as a friend, but I've come to realise there's doubt in my mind if you are my soulmate as my lover.'
Rachel Gilmore and Steven Danyluk
RACHEL AND STEVEN ON THEIR WEDDING DAY ©E4
Rachel Gilmore and Steven Danyluk had a few ups and downs on the show - she got upset over his football joke on their honeymoon, moved out of their apartment when he didn't kiss her during Intimacy week and accused him of 'betraying' her for having an off camera conversation with Bec. Despite those hurdles, they stuck together during their final commitment ceremony but after the experiment ended so did their relationship.
Stella Mickunaite and Filip Gregov
STELLA FILIP ©CHANNEL 4
If you judged by their wedding day, you'd think Stella Mickunaite and Filip Gregov wouldn't last after her family hinted he was on the show to 'elevate his platform' but they're actually the last couple standing. Stella and Filip supported each other despite all the 'mean girls' drama and not only did they fall in love on the show but during their final vows Filip proposes FOR REAL and as of April 2026 they're engaged.
