The end of MAFS 2026 has finally arrived and it’s safe to say we’re emotional. As secrets and behind-the-scenes footage were revealed creating montages that were truly hard to watch, what sat at the centre of this episode was the importance of “sisterhood”, particularly in the wake of MAFS expert Mel Schilling’s recent passing. This final episode ended with another beautiful montage in memoriam to Mel, the late Married at First Sight expert and incredible champion of women, where her joy and wisdom shone through each and every video. While Rachel and Steven, Gia and Scott, Stephanie and Tyson, Bec, and Stella and Filip each took their turns on the couch, there was also a moment to reflect on just how shocking the behaviour of many of the women was during the experiment. From “bullying” by Brooke and Juliette (who didn’t return for this reunion episode) and lash-outs and manipulation caused by repeat offenders Bec and Gia at the centre, some of the contestants didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when the truth finally came out. In the final reunion episode for the season, Tyson was called out on his attitudes towards women, Bec and Gia had to confront their poor behaviour and Danny’s lies all season were finally exposed. Danny’s true colours are revealed After the MAFS Dinner Party Reunion, Danny did not turn up to the Commitment Ceremony reunion. Storming off in a rage after Bec lashed out at him and Stephanie for exchanging text messages, it was revealed he also went off at Stephanie behind-the-scenes, accusing her of stirring drama at the table to gain more screen time. Either way, as expert John said, his absence from the commitment ceremony “[spoke] volumes” about his willingness to take accountability. This allowed for unseen footage to be aired that ultimately revealed his true colours and just how much he strung Bec along all season long. Bec sat alone on the couch, breathing deeply as her and Danny’s relationship reel played on the screen. In the end, Danny’s lack of communication, honesty, and seriousness towards Bec’s feelings were exposed – most notably when he says “all b—-es love me” after being asked about Bec’s confession of love for him. However, what was more jarring to see was his final exit interview where he said that “the future without Bec would be bright.” “After this there’ll be women queuing up for me, I won’t be able to walk down the street,” he said to everyone’s shock. “They’ll be throwing their pantyhose at me you know so either way it’s going to be alright.” Hard watch for Bec (and everyone, tbh). Bec had to face the music alone at the MAFS Commitment Ceremony Reunion. Credit: Channel Nine. However, what followed this was an admission of something everyone had been thinking all season long: Bec believed that Danny did say that Gia would be his type. After having a couple of weeks apart and seeing how Danny texted Stephanie after the experiment, Bec realised that she “turned a blind eye” to a lot of shady behaviour from Danny and that, in reality, he was just not that into her. While it was already such a small comment that was blown out of proportion in the first place, it’s nice to finally have some closure about it all. Mel Schilling left a powerful message for future MAFS contestants This season of MAFS had long-time fans swearing off the show for good after seeing the appalling behaviour and “bullying” on display, particularly between the female contestants. Emblematic of her spirit and values, Mel made a serious effort to point out the “lack of sisterhood” and “painful” behaviour shown this season. “In a decade of doing this experiment, I have never seen so much animosity in a group of girls,” she said. “Have a long hard look at yourselves…we want self-respect.” In typical Mel fashion, she called on the contestants to not “tear [each other] down” but to “stand up when someone else is bullied.” Whether they found love or not this season, that was the takeaway every contestant needed to hear this season.
