Detailsinfo
A vulnerability has been found in gitroomhq postiz-app up to 2.21.4 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the file /api/public/stream. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Postiz is an AI social media scheduling tool. Prior to 2.21.5, the /api/public/stream endpoint is vulnerable to SSRF. Although the application validates the initially supplied URL and blocks direct private/internal hosts, it does not re-validate the final destination after HTTP redirects. As a result, an attacker can supply a public HTTPS URL that passes validation and then redirects the server-side request to an internal resource.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-40168 since 04/09/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 2.21.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
