When asked which technologies or trends will most change the way insurance companies operate in 2026, 53% of respondents said they believe it will be from cybersecurity and threat intelligence tools. This reflects the growing concerns over cyber risk, as cyber attacks are increasing in frequency and severity across industries. According to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), annual cybercrime losses reached almost $20.9 billion in 2025 — a 26% increase from 2024.
Fifty-two percent of executives surveyed also cited generative AI as the biggest disruptor. Twenty-four percent cited agentic AI and 32% cited fraud mitigation and prevention tools.
The Digital Insurance Predictions 2026 survey was fielded online during October to December, 2025. Respondents represent a range of organization types, with the largest shares from agencies/brokerages (33%), P&C carriers (18%), multi-line carriers (15%), health insurance carriers (12%) and life insurance carriers (7%).
