Detailsinfo
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in InvenTree up to 1.2.6. This affects an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
InvenTree is an Open Source Inventory Management System. Prior to 1.2.7 and 1.3.0, any users who have staff access permissions can install plugins via the API, without requiring "superuser" account access. This level of permission requirement is out of alignment with other plugin actions (such as uninstalling) which do require superuser access. The vulnerability allows staff users (who may be considered to have a lower level of trust than a superuser account) to install arbitrary (and potentially harmful) plugins. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.2.7 and 1.3.0.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-35479 since 04/02/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1548.002 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 1.2.7 eliminates this vulnerability.
