Detailsinfo
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.0-rc4. Affected is the function ksmbd_session_lookup_all of the component ksmbd. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a state issue vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-371. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: unset conn->binding on failed binding request When a multichannel SMB2_SESSION_SETUP request with SMB2_SESSION_REQ_FLAG_BINDING fails ksmbd sets conn->binding = true but never clears it on the error path. This leaves the connection in a binding state where all subsequent ksmbd_session_lookup_all() calls fall back to the global sessions table. This fix it by clearing conn->binding = false in the error path.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-31409 since 03/09/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 04/06/2026).
