MP Mohamed Hassan Mohamed (Soomaali), highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity as Somalia’s digital ecosystem continues to expand. As digital services continue to expand across Somalia, strengthening cybersecurity systems is essential to protecting government institutions, telecommunications infrastructure, and other critical sectors. SOMCIRT will play a key role in ensuring that our digital ecosystem remains secure and resilient.” The establishment of SOMCIRT is expected to enhance coordination in addressing cyber threats while strengthening the protection of critical digital infrastructure across the country. Mr. Mustafa Yasin Sheikh, Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), explained that the center was established following extensive national consultations and technical assessments aimed at strengthening Somalia’s ability to respond to cyber threats.
